By: Kaila Morales Earning their first doubleheader sweep of the season, Cal State San Bernardino baseball goes 3 for 4 against Cal State San Marcos. As CSUSB wraps up their 2017 season with a record of (11-23 in California Collegiate Athletic Association, and 14-32 overall).  This outcome is not what the Coyotes hoped for after holding a record of (17-20 CCAA,  22-29 overall) last season. Coyotes started their four game series against the Cougars on Friday, the opener resulted in a 7-3 loss. All three of the Coyotes runs were scored by Dillon Fahr, with Dominic Campeau accounting for the two RBI’s. “This season has just been disappointing, we had a lot of freshman starting so making the adjustment to such a good conference can be a big adjustment at times,” Martinez said.  Adversities aside CSUSB was able to earn its first doubleheader sweep of the season on Saturday, with a score of 14-7 for game 1 and 8-4 for game 2.   With five s...

By: Kaila Morales  The Cal State San Bernardino baseball team gets their first win, winning two out of the four, for a split series against Cal State Los Angeles.  This series was the opening for the CCAA. (California Collegiate Athletes Association)  The Coyotes faced the Eagles for the first match up on Thursday night at Reeder Field. RHP Matthew Moriarty got the start throwing 4 1/3 innings, he had five strikeouts, five walks, and gave up three runs.  An RBI single by Lucas Martinez in the third, put the Coyotes on the board, after trailing by two.  Jordan Simon’s ground out in the fourth which scored Dominic Campeau, tied the Coyotes up at 2-2. The Eagles earned a run in the fifth, resulting in the 3-2 loss for the Coyotes.  CSUSB’s losing streak came to an end on Friday night when they secured a 13-3 win against the Eagles. By Kaila Morales | The Cal State San Bernardino Baseball team started their 2017 season off with a four game series against Dixie State Trailblazers.  RHP Jon Ferrendelli got the start on friday for the first game striking out 5 in 5 innings.  The Coyotes were off to a good start in game one with a two run homer by First Basemen Daniel Romo. They were able to hold the lead for most of the game until the Trailblazers tied it at 4-4 in the fifth.  The Coyotes answered back with two more runs in the 5th to regained the lead at 6-4 with a RBI single by Catcher Lucas Martinez, and a double by Third Basemen Nick Grimes scoring Romo and Martinez.  The game ended in favor of the Trailblazers who earned four runs un the seventh, resulting in a final score of 9-6. By: Kaila Morales   SAN BERNADINO, Calif-  Baseball season doesn’t start until spring, but  CSUSB’S baseball  team got things started early with four scrimmage games this fall.  This was the first time the Coyotes got to play ball in the fall.  The first scrimmage game took place against  Riverside Community College  (RCC), and the second one was played against  California Baptist University  (CBU).  Game three was also  against RCC, ending with a game four at  Fiscalini field , the home field for the Coyotes.  Game four was not played against any school, but was instead the 2017 team against the alumni's.  As a Division II school the team gets three scrimmage games that do not count against their schedule. By: Kaila Morales  SAN BERNARDINO,Calif. - Former CSUSB baseball players Tyler Wells and William Ouellette are cruising their way through their new careers.  A few months ago the two got the exciting news that they were selected to play on professional teams.  Wells, who is a right-handed ace for the Coyotes, was selected by the Minnesota Twins. Ouellette, who dabbled as both a shortstop and relief pitcher for the Coyotes, signed a free agent contract as a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays .  Once they were selected they immediately hopped on a plane to join their new rookie affiliate teams. Wells was assigned to the Elizabethton Twins   and Ouellette was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays.  Both Ouellette and Wells finished their first seasons as minor league players in September.  Ouellette had a record of one win and three saves, tying for second place as a pitching leader with the most saves.
