Earning their first doubleheader sweep of the season, Cal State San Bernardino baseball goes 3 for 4 against Cal State San Marcos.

As CSUSB wraps up their 2017 season with a record of (11-23 in California Collegiate Athletic Association, and 14-32 overall).

This outcome is not what the Coyotes hoped for after holding a record of (17-20 CCAA,
22-29 overall) last season.

Coyotes started their four game series against the Cougars on Friday, the opener resulted in a 7-3 loss.

All three of the Coyotes runs were scored by Dillon Fahr, with Dominic Campeau accounting for the two RBI’s.

“This season has just been disappointing, we had a lot of freshman starting so making the adjustment to such a good conference can be a big adjustment at times,” Martinez said.

Adversities aside CSUSB was able to earn its first doubleheader sweep of the season on Saturday, with a score of 14-7 for game 1 and 8-4 for game 2.

With five strikeouts Starter Jon Ferrendelli was able to earn his second win of the season, while Relief Pitcher Noah Simon recorded his second save.

Lucas Martinez who leads the Coyotes in homers added another one, making for his fourth this season.

“Coach Martinez just wanted me to be a productive hitter” Martinez said.

Amongst the solo homerun by Martinez,  Fahr keyed in an RBI triple scoring Damion Edmonds.

Austin Lundeen and Campeau each with two- run singles, Andrew Jurardo with an RBI double and Edmonds with a run-scoring single.

Giving the Coyotes a score of 14-7 to complete game 1 of the doubleheader.

The runs certainly appeared to be present in game 2 of the doubleheader, with the help of six fielding errors by CSUSM.

Jordan Simon put the Coyotes on the board with a two-run double in the first.

Fahr had a total of two hits, with an RBI single in the sixth.

Martinez was also able to grab a two-run double later in the sixth.

Five runs off of five hits in the sixth was not only enough to tie the game, but the Coyotes were able to grab the lead and secure the win.

Starting LHP Don Sullivan recorded seven strikeouts with two walks, however the win went to Relief Pitcher Cory Peterson in just 1/3 of an inning.

CSUSB was able to capitalize again on fielding errors by CSUSM on Sunday, earning a 9-6 victory to complete the four game series.

The Coyotes had a slow start as they trailed 5-3 through six innings, however things started to get going with six-runs off of four-hits in the seventh.

Edmonds, and Martinez each earned RBI doubles.
