Dodger's Walk-off, A hurt Joc Pederson?

By: Kaila Morales

My first story about the Los Angeles Dodgers... Well here it goes!

So the Dodgers had an interesting game last night.  Clayton Kershaw got the start and well no shocker that he was able to pitch the whole 9 innings. I mean who needs closers when you have Kershaw? But just as the game was coming to a close, and Kershaw would have a shutout, that opportunity would be thrown away. A wildpitch in the 9th allowed the St. Louis Cardinals to score and tie up the game at 1-1. The Dodgers got their run early in the 1st, with a solo home-run by Yasmani Grandal.

Ultimately the game went extra innings and the Dodgers were able to grab the win in the 13th. Logan Forsythe hit a walk-off double, in his first game back after coming off the disabled list. Forsythe with a broken toe was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes for his rehabbing assignment. Playing a total of five games with the Quakes. Adrian Gonzalez played along side Forsythe in three of the five. Gonzalez was placed on the DL with elbow soreness.

While were on the subject of the Quakes, Let’s talk about Cody Bellinger who was recently called up from Triple A Oklahoma City Dodgers. Bellinger played for the Quakes in 2015, where he quickly made a name for himself. He easily became a fan favorite as the hashtag #Codylove started a trend. Bellinger has certainly lived up to all the talk. With a total of 9 homers since his debut with the Dodgers on April 25th. He’s had so much success, we can only hope he stays put and doesn’t get sent down.

ICYMI: Center fielder Joc Pederson left the game after colliding with Yasiel Puig, while trying to get a hold of Yadier Molina’s fly out to center right. Pederson had a previous collision three innings earlier with Bellinger.

Suffering a neck strain, Pederson went to twitter to make light of the incident.
tweeting “ Sanka you dead man”

Pederson’s injury is currently set as day to day. As he is not in the lineup for tonight’s game.

With yesterday’s win the Dodgers secured a 17-7 at home record, second best in the National League. The Dodgers look to game two against the Cardinals with Hill on the mound.
